Well, we’re a month out from our trip now, and I feel like the journey has already begun! The toughest part of our Edmonton “leg” is complete – we’ve rented our condo. Which proved to be a VERY interesting experience.
We had listed the condo in a few places starting at the beginning of September and literally got NOTIHNG. Finally, I convinced Scott to put our ad in the Journal…and BAM. We got tons of hits.
At the end of the day, we had two real options: Two female grad students (Anna from Oregon and Laura from Belgium), plus Laura’s Belgian boyfriend…or two middle-aged men from Minnesota…carpenters…here to work on the Scottsford upgrader. One of the dudes has a barbel mustache and snakeskin cowboy boots…awesome. Anyway, they were both good options, but in the end we choose the guys, because they could afford our asking price which gives us more money in our pockets to spend on the trip…and they are homeowners so they will be respectful. It was a tough decision for Scott and I, but we are hopeful that we made the right one.
Next steps: to pack up the house and move back in with my momma. I have a week and a half to get this accomplished…fun times!

I found your blog. Obsessive checking will commence the day you leave for your trip. And have fun packing. I’ll be thinking of you as we do the same.
